I am so blessed to have the oportunity to sing for a living and travel all the miles across the country that I do. Every time I step foot on stage I realize just how lucky I am, how much hard work it's taken to get here, how much more it's gonna take to get to where I wanna go, and I ALWAYS remember who I am, and where I came from.
I've seen cities where there were no trees, to small towns where grass grows through the cracks of main street. Along the way I have always tried to take opportunities to visit with people from these towns and cities.
There is one thing in common with all of them. They all have a history, a story, and make America what it is.
Where I come from, small towns make up the majority of the population. I am proud to say I am from the Midwest. A place where some may call boring, or layed back. Little do they know just how busy these little towns are. How so many of the men and women serving for our country, are from the country. It's my hopes and dreams to bring these towns and peoples stories to light. Remind Americans where America comes from.
A lot of these small towns across the Midwest are unfortunately disappearing. The gas stations have dried up, the general store's doors have closed. The playgrounds slides and swing sets aren't safe to play on anymore. The baseball diamond is a faded thin strip of dirt taken over by tall grass, the bleachers are metal frames where people once gathered to pass the time.
It is my goal that while capturing the stories of America, the spirit and history of the town, to help rebuild some of these communities by spending time on small needed projects that will bring evereyone together and bring back the pride that once flourished thoughout the town. When its time to leave, we will leave that town with something to be proud of, and use to attract people to visit their special place on the map.
We are looking for 7 small towns across the Midwest to begin this project. We will have more information up soon on how to enter the town of your choice. So please check back soon and give us your input.
