BIO's

Jason Brown is a Midwest country boy. With pure vocals that wrap listeners into the emotion of each lyric, Brown’s youthful charm finds a home standing on a musical front porch near the corner of Beer Run Boulevard and Sunday Morning Avenue. He was born and raised outside of Pella, Iowa across from his grandparents’ farm where his brother and he worked and played. At the age of four, Brown started singing in church with the urging of his grandmother. After the chores were done on the farm, Brown’s grandmother taught him how to sing while she sat and played the piano with her nine fingers. Life on the farm brought out the best in Brown and helped nourish his love of country music. Brown’s early years were influenced by Alabama, Jim Reeves, Kenny Rogers, Ronnie Milsap, and especially George Strait, who remains his idol to this day.

At the age of 14, Brown moved to Corpus Christi, Texas with his mom after his parents divorced. He stayed involved with his church and participated heavily in his youth group at Gardendale Baptist Church. When he wasn’t in church, Brown was either hitting the beach or breaking horses. Brown made country cool in Corpus Christi. He thought he may have been the first to make blue jeans and a tuxedo top popular at his 8th grade prom. Still, the move to Texas wasn’t easy for Brown. He described the move as a total culture shock, as he went from simple country living to big city living, and soon longed to come home to the countryside.

At the age of 17, Brown moved back to the country to live with his father in Pleasantville, Iowa. He remembers himself being the only one in town who wore Wrangler jeans, a cowboy hat, and blared Clint Black’s Killing Time out of his truck. It was at this time when Brown became active in country music. During his sophomore year in high school, Brown became a full time member in his first band, Country Persuasion, and has been actively involved in a band ever since. Other constants in his life have been: the love of his family, his appreciation of great friends, and his passion for music.

The early years of being raised in the country and then living in the city reflect in Brown through and through. He can drive his Chevrolet truck through the mud and timber during the day, then wash it up and go to town at night. Brown knows the reason why heels on roper boots are lower. He understands why you want sturdy jeans when mending fence. He still works on his father’s farm when he’s back home; still hops in a tractor-trailer and makes hauls to get away from it all. Brown even drives a tour bus now and then to help a friend out. He says, “Working with my hands and operating equipment keeps my mind working and keeps things real for me. That’s when it seems I come up with my best songs and ideas.”

These days, Brown splits his time between Iowa and Nashville, Tennessee. His time in Nashville consists of sharpening his writing skills with some of the best songwriters in the industry. He believes they are the unsung heroes of the industry and it’s easier to write songs because the writers’ backgrounds are very much in common with his. “The songwriters are country music, so it’s easier to write country music,” Brown said. Still, Brown focuses on being an entertainer before he is a writer, and overall loves to perform and be in front of a crowd.

If you want to know more of who Brown is, he urges you to listen to his music. Every song he sings describes him in some way—country and true to his roots. When Brown is not singing, he spends as much time as he can outdoors. He loves to hunt, fish and enjoy the simple, yet peaceful rural life.

The venue of country music has allowed Brown the opportunity to bring attention to charities he feels strongly about. Brown will tell ya that his first priority with a status as a country artist, is to seek out honorable charities, and raise awareness for them. Brown says, "Being on stage doesn't make me any better than the people buying the tickets. What we all do together may make this a better place."

From touring as a supporting act, jamming with other country stars, singing harmony and playing acoustic guitar, to headlining his own shows, keep your eyes on the stage; you never know where you’ll see Brown next.
That’s country, that’s Jason Brown.

Please read about the great guys that make the shows flow and groove. When we first hit the stage together we used the name Red Rock. The bull that no-one could ride untill Mr. Lane Frost came along and enjoyed the ride.

The Band " Red Rock "

 Neil Redding (Drummer)

Neal grew up in North Carolina, but moved to Iowa right after he completed high school. Neal started playing drums in 5th grade, the year after the Beatles came to the US. Neal has played in Rock, Blues, R&B, and Jazz fusion bands besides Country. Neal also has the passion to play drums at his church when he is not on the road.

Who were some of your influences? The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Yes, and Dream Theater

What drives you to be an entertainer? To watch everyone in the crowd have fun and smiling. It’s a great too see friends and family out in the crowd.

What are some of your goals? I would really like to play in Wells Fargo and the State Fair Grandstand

Greg "Shoeless" Valentine (Fiddle, Mandolin, Vocal)

Greg started playing the violin at age 8 and had a strong interest in fiddle music. At the age of 10, Greg played in the Iowa State Fair fiddle contest and placed 5th. He is #1 in our books.

Greg has performed in several bands, but has been performing with Jason for the last 10 years. He is a talented instrument maker, and custom made the instruments he plays on stage. He continues to repair instruments for others in his spare time. That is when he is not out riding his Harley. Keep an eye out for Batman you just might see him out and about.

Influences: Mark O’Connor, Robby Steinhart

What drives me to be an Entertainer: It's all about the babes!

Favorite quotes: “I Can’t”, Al Kabela.

  Dave Alfstad (Steel Guitar)

Dave was 8 years old when he started out playing guitar and singing. Dave continued to perform at a young age and has been in several different bands through the years. Steel guitar was something else that he wanted to try and it seemed to fall into place that he could play just about anything he wanted to. Dave also shares the love of good old Bluegrass music. When not performing you just might see Dave out playing Disk Golf if he doesn't get mad and throw all 30 Disks into the woods.

Influences: Buck Owens, George Jones, Thom Bresh, and many more

What drives me to be an Entertainer: The love of music and performing for a crowd of people. I love to see everyone out in the crowd having fun.

Life’s Motto: "I'm only here for the next three shows and the ones after that”

  Rod Deibler ( Bass)

Rod started playing guitar in High School. He joined the Navy and served  four years in the military. After his time in the military, Rod was asked  to play bass in a band with some of his friends. He has continued to play  bass and enjoys getting out and performing with his friends.

Influences: Darrell Morris, David Hope, Colin Cameron, James Jamerson

What drives me to be an Entertainer: The love of music and chance to perform. Also to spend time with my friends.

Favorite Movie: Young Frankenstein

Goals: To retire!

Darrell Morris( Fill In Lead Guitar, Vocal)

Darrell started off his professional music career as a five night per week drummer with a country trio at the age of sixteen. This career came to a halt when, after about four years, he realized that he was not a very good drummer. The guitar seemed to suit him and he quickly rocketed to musical mediocrity, where he has remained ever since. Darrell has been married (sorry ladies) to his lovely wife Tammy for what she says "feels like forever". They have three children and four grandchildren. This is especially unusual for someone who is only twenty seven years old. Tammy is extremely supportive of his musical career as long he doesn't actually have to go anywhere or make any noise.

Birthday: June 14th

Favorite movie: Dumb and Dumber

Favorite Quotes: "Move you little bastard, before I smack the ugly off of you." Mrs. Anderson - Kindergarten teacher 1970, '71, & '72

"Sniff your own wiener." - S.T. 2011

"That blows." - Greg Valentine - May 2011 - two measures before my guitar solo ended at rehearsal.
